For Kids

Government Sponsored "For Kids" Sites

USDA for Kids Page

Kids can team up with RUS, the Surfin' Squirrel, S.K. Worm, Woodsey Owl and Smokey the Bear at the USDA for Kids Page.  The site, which is hosted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, introduces kids to topics including Farmer's Markets, preventing foodborne illness, agriculture, nutrition and gardening.  It includes a coloring and activity book, a food guide pyramid for young children and a science section with text that is available in English or Espanol.

FDA Kids' Homepage

The FDA Kids' Homepage balances educational information with fun games and activities.  It contains sections for kids, teens and parents.  Kids can take the food safety quiz or complete the interactive food safety coloring book.  Teens are able to learn about issues that pertain specifically to them.  The Parents' Corner posts information about health and safety issues regarding children.

Kidz Korner

The Kidz Korner web site is hosted by the Michigan Department of Agriculture.  It contains fun pictures, games and stories about agriculture-related topics.  Kids can take the ice cream personality test, play matchmaker with fruits and vegetables and learn about food safety in the great outdoors.  They can also find information about the crops that Michigan farmers grow and read stories about gardening, the milk cycle and maple syrup.

Ready Kids

Your family can use this Web site to create a plan that will help you be ready for many different kinds of unexpected situations!
