Federal Agencies
"Three
federal agencies share responsibility for assuring the safety and wholesomenees
of the overall food supply. The Food and Drug Administration of the Department
of Health and Human Services has the primary responsibility. The U.S.
Department of Agriculture shares concurrent jurisdiction with the Food
and Drug Administration over meat and poultry products. The Environmental
Protection Agency has jurisdiction over the use of pesticides that have
